Where your LES comes from
myPay (DFAS). Log into myPay at mypay.dfas.mil. Your LES posts monthly, a few days before end-of-month payday. The Air Force LES uses the standard DFAS layout with roughly 78 numbered blocks.
Air Force-specific gotchas
- Flight pay and aviation incentive pay depend on flight records staying current in the aviation systems. A records gap stops the pay even while you are flying. Rated officers and career enlisted aviators should eyeball that line every month.
- Dorm residents: your BAS and meal deduction lines travel together. When you get authorization to move out and receive full BAS, confirm the meal deduction actually stopped.
- After a PCS, check the VHA ZIP field on your first statement at the new base. An old ZIP means BAH at the old base's rate, and the difference becomes a debt later.
The five lines to check every month
- BASE PAY: Basic Pay errors almost always happen at a promotion or when your Pay Entry Base Date is recorded wrong.
- BAH: BAH is the number one source of real pay errors.
- FLT PAY / ACIP: Flight pay depends on staying current on flight requirements.
- MEAL DEDUCTION: This deduction should stop the month you are authorized to move out of essential station messing, get BAS in full, and buy your own groceries.
